Judo for life!
It is important for children to be properly introduced to judo during their time at the primary school, as a positive introduction to judo at an early age is the foundation for lifelong judo fun. Since 2005, the judo program Schooljudo.nl has approached every project with this vision in mind. In this program the intrinsic side of judo has been effectively used to stimulate the child's social and motorial development. The UKE & TORI © concept, the judo mats and judo suits take care of the right
experience. All this has turned Schooljudo.nl into today's largest and
most successful recreational sports project in The Netherlands.
It is in the nature of children to romp and horse about. I did so myself when I was young. When I was five years old, my parents thought it important for me to take judo lessons. I was single-minded, a bad loser and I needed a way to let off steam. Any sport can serve as a way to let off steam but judo has a number of intrinsic characteristics that other sports lack. Judo taught me how to work together with others, to handle both winning and losing and how to control my emotions. Judo as a sport embodies these characteristics. Therefore it is a very valuable and vital element in a child's development.

UKE & TORI ©: the ultimate judo experience!
The UKE & TORI © mascots are very popular with young people in The Netherlands. As part of the Schooljudo.nl program they call at primary schools all over Holland. UKE & TORI © create the ultimate youth judo experience before, during and after judo classes. This experience is created by means of these three playful themes: PLAY, colouring pictures, games and judo exercises; LEARN, cartoons concerning food, the rules of judo and hygiene; EXPERIENCE, certificates, badges and back emblems. UKE & TORI ©: the ultimate experience for children, the comprehensive concept for associations and clubs!
